Sydney Sweeney's Wonder Woman Look 'Has the Internet Losing It'
She wore a plunging red-and-gold corset to her family's Idaho lake house in August ... six weeks later, the photos are a nationwide Breakout trend.
Engage ↓Sydney Sweeney posted vacation photos wearing a custom Wonder Woman corset at her family's Idaho lake house on August 22 ... and six weeks later, those photos are a Breakout search trend across the United States.
Hello! Magazine reported she "channels Lynda Carter" in the plunging red-and-gold costume. TMZ published images the same day they appeared online. Parade called it a look that "has the internet losing it."
The outfit: a strapless red-and-gold PVC corset with a deep plunging neckline, blue high-cut briefs printed with white stars, a gold tiara, silver metallic cuffs, and a replica Lasso of Truth. The Lynda Carter reference is direct, channeling the original Wonder Woman television series from the 1970s.
The Lake House Behind the Costume
The photos came from a gathering Sweeney tagged 'Camp '26' at a property she calls 'Camp Runamuck,' an Idaho lake house built in 1937 where her mother and grandmother were both born. The property left the family before Sweeney bought it back in 2022.
At the same gathering, her boyfriend Scooter Braun dressed as Superman. Braun and Sweeney have been together since they were first seen at Jeff Bezos's 2025 Venice wedding. She made the relationship Instagram-official on May 1, 2026 at Stagecoach. Fox News quoted Braun from a prior podcast: "I've met an extraordinary woman, kind and generous and smart and real."
What Six Weeks of Virality Actually Means
The Wonder Woman photos are not a brand campaign. No product is attached, no partnership was announced.
That is the part worth sitting with. Over the last two years, Sweeney built a very specific public persona through a series of high-attention advertising choices: the nude Novig sports betting ad, the SYRN lingerie launch, the Dr. Squatch bathwater soap campaign. Each generated its own attention cycle and its own round of commentary about whether she had gone too far, or not far enough, or whether the outrage itself was the strategy.
The cumulative effect is a brand that now travels on its own. A vacation costume at a family lake house becomes a trending story not because it was designed to, but because the audience her ad campaigns assembled is already there, looking.
The Wonder Woman choice adds a layer. Lynda Carter's Wonder Woman is a cultural archetype: female strength, American iconography, nostalgia built across fifty years. Sweeney chose it at a personal location (her family's ancestral property) and wore it with no brand involvement. The cultural resonance did the rest.
The event happened in August. The internet is talking about it in October. That is not an accident of timing. It is what a durable persona looks like when it moves without a campaign attached.
