Bad Bunny Turns adidas Gold: Solar Gazelle Drops October 17

The newest Gazelle Indoor pulls its honey-yellow palette from Puerto Rican sunsets. Stadium Goods already lists it at $266 before a single pair has shipped. It drops Friday at $140.

Bad Bunny and adidas are releasing the Gazelle Indoor "Solar Gold" on Friday, October 17, 2026. Per Sneaker Bar Detroit, a honey-yellow suede upper covers most of the shoe, matched by Three Stripes in the same shade, an olive-toned padded tongue and collar, and a translucent gum outsole. Style code KI2592. Retail price: $140.

The collaboration's signature construction codes carry through: a warped T-toe, an elongated tongue, cream rope laces, and "adidas benito" branding on the lateral side. Sign-ups opened October 13 on the adidas CONFIRMED app.

A Puerto Rico Palette Series

The shoes in this line all trace back to a place. The 2024 "San Juan" pair, priced the same $140, was the first Gazelle collaboration and referenced Casa Amadeo, a Puerto Rican record store and cultural landmark in New York City. When Bad Bunny ran a stadium residency in Puerto Rico in 2025, adidas released a matching set of three: "El Yunque" for the northeastern rainforest, "Santurce" for San Juan's art-heavy neighborhood, and "Cabo Rojo" for the southwestern cliffs.

"Solar Gold" is the sixth Gazelle in the series and the most stripped-down. Design Scene notes it marks a shift from the muted earth tones of earlier releases toward a more saturated direction. It is also the warmest colorway in the run. The palette fits what the island's late-afternoon light actually looks like: that exact honey-gold before the horizon turns orange.

The Theory adidas Has Not Confirmed

Design observers have floated a competing read: yellow and black are New York City taxi colors, and "Solar Gold" follows Bad Bunny's "NUEVAYoL" artistic period, which celebrated his relationship with the city. Design Scene reports that adidas and Bad Bunny have not confirmed that reading. Which is either good brand discipline, or a deliberate layer left open for argument.

What the Resale Market Is Saying

Stadium Goods listed a pre-release ask of $266 on October 2, 2026, against a $140 retail price. That is a 90 percent markup before the shoe has shipped to a single customer. Resale premiums on Bad Bunny collaborations have held across the entire Gazelle series. The retail price has not moved since the San Juan pair two years ago.

High resale on the week of the announcement is not coincidence. It reflects buyers who believe the CONFIRMED draw will be limited, demand will exceed supply, and the secondary price will hold. That read has been correct every previous time on this collab.

The Longer Bet

The adidas partnership with Bad Bunny has now produced two silhouettes, the Gazelle Indoor and the BadBo, multiple sub-lines, and a growing cultural vocabulary tied directly to Puerto Rico. What makes it unusual in celebrity brand deals is that the shoes do work the celebrity cannot do alone. Each colorway references a specific place. That requires the audience to know those places. The audience, evidently, does.

The deals on our beat that age well are the ones where the celebrity's personal story becomes the brand's vocabulary, not just their face on the packaging. Six Gazelles into this one, that story is coherent, specific, and still generating demand.
