Hailey Bieber Keeps Buying New Balance. Doctors Agree With Her
No brand deal, no contract, no hashtag. The Rhode founder has cycled through five New Balance models since 2019 on her own dime ... and podiatrists say the cushioning and stability are genuinely hard to beat.
Open Hailing Frequencies ↓In spring 2026, Hailey Bieber walked out of a Beverly Hills Pilates class carrying an $11,000 Chanel XL flap bag and wearing New Balance 1906R sneakers in Silver Metallic Blue Agate. Per Marie Claire, the photo circulated as a high-low flex: Pilates bag costs more than a used car, shoes cost $110. What nobody spotlighted is the part that actually matters: there is no New Balance deal.
This is not a sponsored gym look or an affiliate code post. Since at least 2019, Bieber has cycled through the NB 530, 740, 992, 2002R, 9060, and now the 1906R without a single confirmed brand contract. She just keeps buying them. In a celebrity endorsement economy where every outfit is a potential paid placement, the unpaid repeat customer sends a louder signal than any Instagram partnership ever could.
When your friends start copying the sneaker
By April 2026, it was contagious. Marie Claire documented Kaia Gerber styling New Balance sneakers using Bieber's exact approach: low-key, paired with elevated pieces, no performative branding. The NB 530 is the anchor of both wardrobes, a $110 shoe that debuted in 1992 and has refused to leave.
The brand is also getting a prestige co-sign from the fashion industry itself. Miu Miu partnered with New Balance on the 530 SL for fall 2026, producing a version with leopard and croc-effect uppers priced between $1,170 and $1,320. When Miu Miu decides a sneaker is worth a four-figure collaboration, the "dad shoe" era is definitively over.
Then the doctors showed up
Podiatrists did not get the fashion memo and reached the same conclusion anyway. Dr. Anne Sharkey, D.P.M., of the North Austin Foot and Ankle Institute, praises New Balance for "good cushioning and stability" and applies a blunt benchmark: "A shoe should not have to be broken in." Dr. Elizabeth Daughtry, D.P.M., F.A.C.F.A.S., at WakeMed Hospital, evaluated the NB FuelCell Walker Elite and concluded it "provides performance and stability without compromising cushioning and comfort during the gait cycle."
Neither doctor is on a retainer with New Balance. Their assessment is strictly clinical. And their description of what makes a good everyday sneaker maps almost exactly onto why Bieber keeps reaching for the same brand: consistent fit, real cushioning, no break-in period.
The brand strategy angle nobody is writing
New Balance has built a peculiar position in the sneaker market: coveted by people who do not want to look like they are trying, endorsed by medical professionals, and now backed by a Miu Miu collaboration. Most brands get one of those three. New Balance has managed all of them in the same season.
The company accomplished this largely by not chasing the hype cycle. While competitors built limited-drop scarcity machines, New Balance kept making reliable footwear at accessible prices, let celebrities discover them organically, and waited for fashion to arrive. When Hailey Bieber buys the same sneaker in six different models over seven years with no promotional arrangement, that is product credibility the brand could not have bought.
InStyle covered the convergence this week, noting that celebrity fans and podiatrists have independently landed on the same fall recommendation. The alignment is not a coincidence. It is what happens when a shoe is actually good.
New Balance and a representative for Hailey Bieber did not respond to requests for comment on any sponsorship arrangements. Ad Watch News is an independent commentary site with no affiliation with either party.
