Megyn Kelly Brands Nicole Kidman's Vogue Cover 'Teeny Bopper' at 59
Kelly raised AI-alteration allegations she did not substantiate. A plastic surgeon found no evidence of AI. Kidman's 12th Vogue Australia cover is a record for the magazine.
On October 30, Megyn Kelly used her show to brand Nicole Kidman's new Vogue Australia cover 'teeny bopper' and inappropriate for her age, then said the photos had been subject to AI-alteration allegations. The cover is Kidman's 12th for the magazine, a record.
The November 2026 issue of Vogue Australia went online October 23 and arrived on newsstands November 2. The shoot was photographed by Lachlan Bailey and styled by editor-in-chief Christine Centenera, with Kidman, 59, wearing Chanel across every look. The magazine frames the issue as a homecoming, a reference to Kidman's return to Australia following her January 2026 divorce from country musician Keith Urban after 19 years of marriage.
The interview, as reported by The Nightly, was structured around questions from fellow Australians: Hugh Jackman, Kylie Minogue, and Margot Robbie each submitted questions. Kidman spoke on her comfort with taking on what she described as sex-charged roles at 59 and described a 'necessity' for a career shift that she said preceded the end of her marriage.
The AI Allegation
Kelly, in her October 30 segment, compared some of the Chanel styling to clothing her teenage daughter might wear and said the images had been subject to AI-manipulation claims. Kelly did not identify who made those claims or offer any supporting evidence. IBTimes reported the segment in full, quoting Kelly's 'teeny bopper' characterization and her framing of the AI speculation as an open question.
Hello Magazine asked a plastic surgeon to review the images. The surgeon found no signs of AI generation and said the appearance of flawless skin is consistent with conventional, high-end editorial retouching. Vogue Australia has not publicly addressed the AI claims. Kidman has not responded to Kelly's remarks.
The Brand Angle
Kidman has been a Chanel ambassador since 2003, one of the longest-running endorsement relationships in fashion. Using the Vogue Australia shoot to present an extended Chanel wardrobe is both a personal expression and an editorial collaboration with one of her most significant commercial partners. The 12-cover record for Vogue Australia spans more than three decades of the magazine's history.
What the Backlash Actually Shows
What Kelly's segment actually illustrates is a recognizable pattern: a prominent woman at 59 appears confident and stylish, and commentary pivots immediately to the possibility of deception. The question raised is not whether the photos are flattering. The question implied is whether a 59-year-old is entitled to look the way she looks without it being coded as a trick. The plastic surgeon's verdict and the absence of any identified source for the AI claim both point in the same direction.
Kidman is on record saying that maintaining her health is the foundation of her approach. She has said publicly that she intends to keep taking on roles that challenge expectations about age. The Vogue Australia cover, her 12th and her first post-divorce, is consistent with that posture.
