Kim Kardashian Filled a $148 Advent Calendar With Hair Ties and Went Viral
An unboxing creator opened the SKIMS Accessories Advent Calendar's 12 days on camera, got hair ties and keychains, and hit 34 million views. The calendar costs $148 and contains no SKIMS clothing.
SKIMS is valued at five billion dollars after a Goldman Sachs funding round. Its 2026 Accessories Advent Calendar costs $148 and contains, among other items, a 3-pack of bobby pins and a bear keychain.
The calendar launched October 29 as part of the SKIMS holiday shop. Its 12 compartments held hair ties, clips, scrunchies, keychains, a squishy, and a comb keychain, with no clothing. The Tab reviewed the full day-by-day list from the SKIMS product page: Day 1 is a bear keychain, Day 2 is a 3-pack hair elastic, and by Day 12 there is a faux fur compact mirror keychain. A TikTok creator opened every compartment on camera. By November 7, that video had 34 million views, per JustJared.

What $148 Gets You at SKIMS and at Walmart
The Tab ran the comparison. A Kitsch five-piece satin scrunchie set costs $7.94 at Walmart. Similar bear keychains sell for under $10. SKIMS also sells a Panty Advent Calendar at $450 containing 25 limited-edition underwear pieces, actual clothing. Someone who bought the $148 calendar expecting that tier of product did not read the description, which stated the box would include surprises "from hair accessories to keychains and more." The description was accurate. The mismatch is between what the SKIMS brand signals and what a $148 accessories box can plausibly deliver.
Other viewer reactions, per Yahoo/Parade: one Threads post said SKIMS had people "paying $150 for stuff you'd throw in the junk drawer." Another asked why an intimates brand filled the calendar with hair ties with no pair of underwear or socks. A third joked that Kim "really just cleaned out her car." None of these are complaints about deception. All of them are complaints about brand premium failing to show up in the box.
No Response From SKIMS or Kim Kardashian
SKIMS had not publicly commented on the backlash as of November 7, 2026. Neither had Kim Kardashian. The calendar remained listed on skims.com. Google search interest for the term "SKIMS advent calendar" hit a peak index of 100 on November 7, the same day the unboxing crossed 34 million views, per DataForSEO. Holiday shopping runs through December 25. We will update this entry if SKIMS responds or pulls the listing.
