Elizabeth Hurley: Billy Ray Cyrus Is My 'Twin' and There's a Ring
The British actress has been living on his Nashville farm, watching him record music with his kids, and this week she stepped out wearing a diamond. She says the 'unlikely pairing' makes perfect sense.
Make It So ↓"We have the same hair. Identical hair. Apart from his beard, we're actually like twins." Elizabeth Hurley said that on a SheerLuxe podcast appearance this week, describing the man she has been dating for roughly eighteen months. The man is Billy Ray Cyrus. The same Billy Ray Cyrus who sang "Achy Breaky Heart" in 1992 and raised Miley Cyrus in a log cabin on a Tennessee farm.
This week there is also a diamond. Photographs from mid-October show Hurley wearing a large diamond ring on the engagement-adjacent finger. No announcement has been made. No one has confirmed or denied anything. The ring is just there, doing what large diamond rings do.
How a Film Set Became a Romance
They met on the set of "Christmas in Paradise" in 2022. Hurley and Cyrus had scenes together, and per Hola, they stayed in contact afterward. Cyrus's brief marriage to Firerose ended in 2024 after approximately seven months. After that, Hurley and Cyrus reconnected.
They went public on Easter Sunday 2025. Hurley posted a photo to her Instagram of Cyrus placing a kiss on her cheek. That image, per Complex, settled the question that fans had been asking since the two started appearing in photos together. Since then they have been relatively open about the relationship.
What Nashville Looks Like Through Her Eyes
Hurley has been spending time at Cyrus's farm in Tennessee. She told the SheerLuxe podcast that it feels familiar: "The Tennessee farm is very similar to my farm in Gloucestershire, so in a way it kind of feels normal." She grew up riding horses in England. He grew up on a farm in Kentucky. The parallel is not as surprising as the headline makes it sound.
She was present when Cyrus filmed scenes for the Hannah Montana 20th anniversary special with his daughter Miley. She attended Stagecoach country music festival with him, where he performed with his children Braison and Noah. She describes the children-of-hers, children-of-his dynamic as working well: "Family really matters," she told People, adding that she appreciates how Cyrus and her son Damian "get on so well."
The Twins Defense Is More Interesting Than It Sounds
The "twins" quote is worth sitting with. Hurley and Cyrus represent two distinct celebrity archetypes. She is British, cosmopolitan, model-turned-actress, associated with Versace and Estée Lauder campaigns from the 1990s and 2000s. He is American, country, associated with the kind of rural-Americana authenticity that has nothing to do with London fashion weeks.
Her explanation for why they work is not chemistry or timing. It is structural similarity: "We've both lived out of suitcases our entire life." Two people who have spent four decades traveling for work, never fully anchored anywhere. That is a specific kind of loneliness that crosses genre lines.
About That Ring
Fox News and Hello! Magazine both flagged the diamond ring after it appeared in photographs taken in mid-October. Hello! noted that fans were "saying the same thing" in response to the images. Hurley has not addressed it directly.
To be clear: a diamond ring is not a press release. Hurley has worn statement jewelry throughout her career. The speculation is fan-driven, not source-driven. What is notable is that she has not moved to correct the speculation, which is its own kind of statement.
Our Read
Two people in their mid-sixties who met on a film set, discovered they had more in common than their public personas suggested, and are now wearing diamonds without explaining themselves. There is something straightforward about it that celebrity relationships rarely get to be.
The "unlikely pairing" framing comes from outside their relationship. From inside it, based on everything Hurley has said publicly, it sounds like two people who finally found someone who understands what it means to live a particular kind of life. The hair thing is a bonus.
