North West Fires Back at 'Demonic' Claims: 'I Believe in Jesus'

During a TikTok Live with Kim Kardashian, the 13-year-old offered two sentences that cut through a week of online criticism. The look has not changed. The framing just did.

"Oh no, I'm not demonic, guys. Stop saying I'm demonic. No, I'm not." North West said that on a TikTok Live with her mother Kim Kardashian, a video that was reposted to X and spread across entertainment outlets within hours on October 15. She added a second line that ended the argument as cleanly as anyone could: "I believe in Jesus."

North is 13. She has been navigating online commentary about her look since at least 2025, when a dermal finger piercing she wore during a family trip to Rome drew criticism. The grills, the temporary face tattoos, the blue hair, the spiked hoodies: each has generated its own cycle of approval and outrage. The "demonic" framing is the sharpest version of that cycle yet.

Kim Kardashian, 45, joined the TikTok Live and offered her own read on the reaction. She told North that people probably call her demonic because of her black grills and piercings, and that they simply do not "really get it." She has previously said North has always had a clear, confident sense of her own aesthetic, that she "has always known who she is."

The Divorce Theory Gets Dismissed

A separate thread of the criticism tried to link North's look to the divorce between Kim and Ye. North handled that one herself. Per HOLA, she addressed the speculation directly during the same Live: "So you can't be like, 'Where did the style come from? Did the style come from the divorce?' No, queen."

That is not a line a publicist writes. It is too specific, too casual, and too well-timed to be a managed response. She clearly came prepared.

The White Outfit Was Already Her Answer

Before the TikTok Live, North had already offered a physical response to the "demonic" labeling. When she headlined The Vic Theatre in Chicago in September, her first solo concert, she wore an all-white Lolita-inspired outfit rather than her usual darker aesthetic, framing it as a deliberate counter-statement to the critics.

The choice reads as image management by a 13-year-old who has already figured out how to use wardrobe as communication. That is either impressive or sad depending on how you think children should spend their adolescence.

The Rules Kim Set and What They Reveal

Kim has described a framework: North has creative latitude, but there are limits. The bridge piercing she wants is blocked. Kim has said publicly, on multiple occasions, that this is a difficult balance to manage "in front of the whole world." The fake face tattoos and most of the facial piercings are temporary. The dermal finger piercing from Rome is real. The grills are real.

The system Kim has built is essentially: real body modification is restricted, aesthetic expression is allowed. North interprets that as generously as possible. The result is a look that reads as more extreme than it is, which is what drives the "demonic" reaction in the first place.

Our Read

The "Jesus" line is doing a lot of work. It is sincere, because every account of North West suggests she and Kim are both practicing Christians. It is also strategically perfect: it reframes the entire "demonic" accusation as both factually wrong and slightly absurd. You cannot call someone demonic if they just told you they are a Christian. The visual rebuttal requires no further defense.

What is more interesting is the speed at which a teenager's personal aesthetic became a national conversation topic. North West did not ask for the scrutiny. She inherited it. Her parents conducted their relationship, their separation, and their lives in public, and North grew up as a documented person before she could choose otherwise. The fact that she has strong, clear opinions about her own look at 13 is not surprising. It is probably the expected outcome.

The "demonic" label is a proxy for an older argument about what celebrity children are allowed to be, and whether their parents made a mistake by exposing them at all. North is not interested in that argument. She has blue hair, real dermal piercings, and a Jesus defense. For now, that is enough.
